Pioneering a new approach to conventional bi-color lighting, Aputure‘s latest point-source workhorse, the STORM 1200x Bi-Color LED Monolight, matches a powerful and innovative full-spectrum chipset with advanced dimming technology, professional color accuracy, a widely adaptable Bowens mount, and a robust, IP65-rated construction for high-end set work under any circumstance.

The BLAIR Chip Project

In its new STORM family of LED monolights, of which the 1200x is the first, Aputure is debuting its breakthrough BLAIR chipset that features blue, lime, amber, indigo, and red LEDs to deliver higher brightness levels and color accuracy levels. Rated 95 for both CRI and TLCI standards, the light also scores an 87 SSI rating at 3200 and 5600K color temperatures, and the multicolor diodes improve the light’s color-matching abilities. The full CCT range of 2500 to 10,000K is enhanced with green-magenta color correction for advanced white-point control, and the unit’s daylight 5600K output reaches 202,500 lux at 3.3′ when used with the included 45° reflector.

Advanced Dimming and Connectivity

The STORM 1200x comes with a controller that enables advanced dimming, control, and functionality. Stepless dimming is available from .1 to 100%, and flicker-free, color-accurate operation is possible even at the light’s lowest output. Wired and wireless options offer users a variety of control protocols, including DMX, LumenRadio CRMX, Art-Net, and sACN Ethernet, and app control via Bluetooth and the Sidus Link and Sidus Link Pro apps to integrate the light into professional lighting workflows.

Build and Performance

The light’s rugged construction is IP65 rated for dust and weather resistance, making it suitable for use in even the most demanding environments. The light features a Bowens S mount, allowing the STORM 1200x the broad suite of Bowens-compatible modifiers with easy coupling and secure locking

INTRODUCING BLAIR The STORM 1200x utilizes a new BLAIR five-color (Blue/Lime/Amber/Indigo/Red) light engine to better fill out the color spectrum while offering greater adjustability.
	EXPERIENCE FULL SPECTRUM The calibrated Indigo enhances fluorescing materials, resulting in a higher quality white light that better matches natural daylight and black body sources such as tungsten quartz, CRI 95+, SSI [P3200]): 87, SSI (CIE D5600): 87.
SEE THE DIFFERENCE We compared the color response for natural daylight, a traditional bi-color LED, and the STORM 1200x together and found huge, but subtle differences in the objects that fluoresce.
	BEST COLOR ADJUSTABILITY The BLAIR Light Engine enables the STORM 1200x to offer a greater range of CCT than traditional bi-colors and is the first light of its kind to offer 100% +/- Green control, the full ASC MITC range of adjustment.
INTRODUCING XY CONTROL The STORM 1200x has so much color range Aputure has even added an x,y Coordinate mode for greater precision control.
c	PRECISION LOW-END DIMMING Bit-depth control is increased for improved low-end dimming. This enables the STORM 1200x to use PWM dimming all the way down to 0.1% without shifts or dropoff. Color accuracy is maintained throughout the brightness range, even at extreme low brightness levels.
ProLock Locking Bowens Mount The STORM lights feature the ProLock Locking Bowens Mount, a more secure clamping design for attaching modifiers. Bowens accessories are held rigidly in place and precision optics such as fresnels and Spotlight projectors are precisely aligned with the light engine.
	IP65 Weather Protection Head-to-toe IP65 dust and weather protection means the STORM 1200x can work in extreme environments. Seals on every connector and around components allow not only the lamphead but also the control box and cabling to be used outside in the rain.

ProLock Bowens Mount

The ProLock Bowens locking mount holds modifiers and optics rigidly in place. On STORM lamps, even the heaviest modifiers stay secure and properly aligned.
